Who this is for
Knowledge tells you what to do. It does not tell you who will do it with you. A brewer who has read every page here still has to find a malthouse willing to run sorghum, a lab that will test the right thing at the right point, and a certifier who understands why a fermented product is a harder case than a bag of flour.
Each page covers one organization or one category, states plainly what we do and do not know about them, and — the part that makes the page worth having — gives you the questions to ask.
How a page earns a place here
An organization is listed because it is useful to a reader trying to solve a problem this site describes. Listings cannot be bought, and no organization has paid, asked, or been promised anything in exchange for appearing here.
If we cannot say something factual and useful about an organization, it does not get a page. An absence here is not a criticism.
What our listing is worth
Every page states its tier, so you know how much weight to give it.
First-hand — we have worked with them, and the page says what happened and when.
Verified — we have no direct experience. We read what they publish about themselves on the date shown, and the page says what we checked. A documentation check is not an audit.
Directory — a starting point for your own search, not a recommendation of anyone in it. Membership or inclusion in a directory is never a gluten-free credential.
A tier is a statement about our evidence, not about the organization.
These pages go stale
Faster than anything else on this site. A malthouse changes hands, adds a barley line, or lets its testing lapse — and a page that still vouches for it becomes the reason someone trusted it.
So every page carries a Verified as of date and a note on what was actually checked. Treat anything past its refresh interval as unverified and ask the organization directly. On the malthouse page especially: verify before you buy, every time, not once.
Corrections
If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. That goes double for any organization reading their own page — we would rather be corrected than be politely wrong in public. Contact us.
